The Callide Oxyfuel Project is an international low-emissions coal demonstration project at the Callide Power Station in Biloela, Queensland.
Funding for these projects is provided (in part) by the Australian Coal Industry through its COAL21 Fund.
These projects are endorsed and additionally funded by the Commonwealth under its Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Flagships program.
In addition to the Flagship Projects, there are a number of other carbon capture and storage projects of various types, scales and stages of development around Australia.
According to the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute, there are 275 carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects worldwide at various stages of development.
Currently there are four fully integrated commercial CCS projects in operation worldwide. None of these capture CO2 emissions from a power plant but they do prove that CCS has been demonstrated at a commercial scale.
